Join us: European Seminar on AI for Sustainability and Climate Change

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to invite submissions for the European Seminar on AI for Sustainability and Climate Change, to be held online on 15 January 2026.

This event will explore the role of Artificial Intelligence in addressing climate change and advancing sustainable development, with a focus on applications that support the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Seminar also includes an Awards Ceremony recognising outstanding student-led AI projects as part of the European Universities AI Competition.

Themes and aims

The seminar will provide a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue at the intersection of AI, sustainability, and climate science. By means of keynote lectures and thematic sessions, it aims to:
– Showcase AI-driven innovations
– Explore the role of AI in advancing the SDGs

– Strengthen collaboration across academia, technology, public policy, and civil society

Deadlines
Extended deadline for submission of abstracts: 30th September 2025
Deadline for registrations: 30th October 2025
 
Publication Opportunity
Papers admitted to the event and presented at it may be submitted to the Book “AI and the Green Transition: European Perspectives on Sustainable Innovation”. This will be published by Springer Nature as part of the World Sustainability Series, the leading peer-reviewed book series on sustainability in a higher education context: https://www.springer.com/series/13384. Each author will be given a complimentary PDF of their chapters and the book. The submission is not mandatory, only suggested.
 
How to attend the seminar

Abstracts should be up to 300 words, describing the rationale and aims of the paper and some of its results, and be consistent with the seminar theme. Authors whose abstracts have been accepted will receive further details on how to submit their full papers for the book. Full papers for the book are due by 30th January 2026.

Registration and fees
To offset some of the costs of organising the event, a registration fee of 75 euros will be charged per participant. The fee also includes a PDF of the book for the authors who have contributed.
